Who is it for?
Individuals who wish to mentor for the first time and will also be useful for individuals who have previously undertaken formal mentoring – in other words mentoring that has:
- Been on a regular basis not an ‘ad hoc’ relationship
- Lasted over a period of time
- Had an element of ‘contracting’
But have not mentored for many years nor had any structured training as part of a mentoring scheme in the past.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand the difference between a mentoring and a coaching relationship
- Explain the mentoring relationship and the roles and responsibilities involved
- Be introduced to tools and approaches to build successful mentoring relationships and develop their own competence
- Develop a clear set of guidelines and principles on which to build a successful mentoring relationship
- Confidently deliver mentee support
- Refresh their understanding of the difference between a mentoring and coaching relationship
- Explain the mentoring relationship and the roles and responsibilities involved
- Enhance previously developed guidelines and principles in order to build a successful mentoring relationship
- Further develop specific tools to provide effective support to the mentee
- Confidently continue to deliver mentee support
About the facilitator:
Jane Hepper has over 25 years experience across the full range of HR and OD activities gained in both private and public sector.
She has headed HR, training and development teams and managed major change programmes covering business start-ups, joint ventures, business redesign and cultural change programmes.
As a consultant her focus is on improving individual, management and organisational performance, delivering real outcomes through the use of coaching, mentoring and the development of people
A Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and The European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), she has an MA in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Coaching. In addition she is accredited to use a range of psychometric tests including FIRO-B and OPQ, a qualified MBTI practitioner and certificated in the use of SDI (The Strength Deployment Inventory) an individual and team building tool. Jane also co-leads the Devon and Cornwall EMCC network.
